Brazilian Smoothing FAQ’s
What is it?
The Brazilian Smoothing Treatment is NOT a relaxer and NOT a Japanese straightening service. It is the most innovative smoothing and strengthening treatment available. Made up of keratin, the structural bond of your natural hair, it penetrates and repairs internal damage while coating the hair to prevent further damage.
Is this treatment a relaxer?
No. It is a treatment based of Kertain that naturally smoothes your hair.
How long is the appointment?
The treatment may take 1.5 to 3 hours of time depending on length and thickness of hair.
How long will the treatment last?
Hair will gradually return to its pre-treatment condition, no grow out like relaxers. Clients should have the treatment every 4 to 8 months, pending on how frequently they shampoo.
Do I have to do Brazilian touch-ups or the whole head?
The whole head every 4-8 months as needed, waves will come back gradually.
Will I still have my curl?
Yes! Brazillian smoothing treatment does NOT chemically restructure the hair bond. It reconditions the hair preventing frizz while allowing it to wave, curl, or be flat ironed straight.
Will my hair be flat?
The hair will retain its natural body and not hang limp, after the designated 48 hour period.
Can you do the treatment on top of relaxed hair?
Yes. You can do the treatment over any previously relaxed hair.
Can you I color my hair with the treatment?
Yes. We recommend you do the color the same day of your treatment or two weeks after.
Can you do the treatment on highlighted hair?
Yes. We recommend you do the highlights two weeks after your brazillian smoothing treatment.
Should I cut my hair before the treatment?
No. We recommend cutting your hair afterwards, this way you can trim the dead ends exclusively.
Can you do the Brazilian smoothing treatment on virgin hair?
Yes. It will not last as long as previously colored or chemically treated hair.
Can I wash my hair after the treatment?
Only 2 whole days or 48 hours after you have done the treatment.
Can I use any hair-spray, gel, mousse, or other hair products during the 2 day period?
No.
What should I do if my hair gets wet during the first 2 days?
Blow dry immediately, run over with a flat iron if necessary.
If I get any ridges in my hair when I sleep, what should I do?
Use either a blow dryer or flat iron to straighten out the ridge in the hair.
Can I go into the pool or ocean after the treatment?
After 2 weeks, wet hair and put conditioner in first and always rinse well after.
What Shampoo can I use after doing the treatment?
You can only use shampoo without sodium chloride. Exsalonce retails a variety of shampoos and conditioners to suit your hair type.
Will my hair be damaged after the treatment wears off?
No, the Brazilian smoothing treatment, when done correctly by a trained Exsalonce professional, will not damage your hair. It returns to its original state.
Can you do the treatment on children?
Yes. Children must be 12 and over.
Can I do the treatment while pregnant or nursing?
No. It is not recommended.
Can an infant be present while the treatment is being done?
No, the smell may irritate the child. |
